Company Background

Carbon Credit Corp. (CCC) was formed out of the Johnson School of Business at Cornell University with the support of Queen's School of Business and BIOCAP, Canada’s national bioeconomy research foundation. The company’s principle, Shawn Burns, directed his studies at Cornell University and Queen's University toward development of the company.

CCC has developed a program with Canada’s largest agricultural services company to aggregate carbon credits generated from western Canadian farms.

The company designs “green” strategies for public companies allowing them to take best advantage of carbon credits and renewable technologies. CCC has developed a program with Canada’s largest agricultural services company to aggregate carbon credits generated from western Canadian farms. The credits are generated through soil sequestration and beneficial management practices.

In addition, the program aggregates solid biofuel that can be co-fired in coal fired energy plants. This may be of particular interest to companies in the oil sector that are endeavouring to reduce their carbon footprint by purchasing credits and reducing GHG emissions from fossil fuels.

Through association with the Base of the Pyramid protocol, CCC has investigated strategies for economic renewal in the agricultural sector of Central America for the UNDP and GE Latin America. Currently CCC is responding to a request to design a national light bulb replacement program for the country of El Salvador.

CCC is currently registering as an official aggregator with the Chicago Climate Exchange.
